First up, I’ve got some fun and cool suggestions for you and your friends to try out on your trip. These activities are not only enjoyable but also budget-friendly, ensuring everyone in your group will have a blast.

a) USA Space and Rocket Center

First, on the list, I recommend exploring the US Space and Rocket Center and diving into various space-themed activities. Whether you’re a space enthusiast or not. This place has the power to transform your perspective and deliver an unforgettable experience for all.

Every year, millions of people, especially groups of friends like yours, flock here to immerse themselves in a day filled with rockets, simulations, space knowledge, and other fascinating space-related activities.

Upon entry, you’ll be greeted by a plethora of space-themed galleries, videos, displays, and even background vocals, setting the perfect ambiance for your space adventure. Plus there is a section that showcases the life of an astronaut in outer space, like the hurdles they face, etc.

For me, this was the highlight of this center.

Then, you can try some simulations to get a real-life experience of manning a rocket or exploring outer space. These simulations are my personal favorite, and I’m sure everyone in your group will find them awesome. They even have a simulation of a rover on the moon, which is thrilling and exciting.

Now, if you want more or have extra time to spare, you can try scuba diving with your group. It is a perfect place to experience how astronauts float in zero gravity. Don’t worry, it’s completely safe and done under the guidance of professionals.

They also provide meals, cafes, and snacks to tame your hunger. Furthermore, you can take glimpses of Saturn V rockets, spacecraft, and other fascinating space-related exhibits.

Did I mention, it is the biggest and most famous space center in the world? So, even if space isn’t your usual interest, it’s worth giving this place a chance – you might discover a new fascination! consider bringing your friend or even your family to this Space and Rocket Center.

b) Visit Safari Park

Now, same as the space and rocket center, this place is considered a perfect spot for friends to spend some time together amid nature.

Personally, I like safari parks. You can bring anyone here and they won’t be disappointed. And, why would they? A giant park, thousands of animals, driving amid nature, there is a lot to get yourself engaged in.

The best part is the driving. All of your group can explore the whole park from the luxury of your car. It is safe, fun and prevents exhaustion. So, you have enough energy to engage with animals.

Don’t forget the food bucket. Just before entering, you need to buy tickets ($25) and food buckets ($5 each). This is the most fun and exciting part of this trip. 

Moving forward, just after entering the park, you will notice that a huge number of animals like Llamas, deer and zebras are gathered around your car. Now, you might get startled, but don’t worry, They are super friendly and get along pretty well. Take your food bucket,  and instead of throwing the food, just hold your bucket on the car window. All of you can do it simultaneously.

The animals will eat it slowly and gently. (Well, I’m not sure OK!). Now furthermore, you will encounter some other rare and exciting animals, like elephants, bison, giraffes and more.

In a nutshell, driving and feeding the animals is the key highlight of this or any other Safari park. So, make sure to add this place to your bucket list.

2. Free things to do in Alabama with friend 🆓

If you’re looking to have a great time with your group without spending money, I’ve got two fantastic, free-of-cost destinations and activities that you should consider.

a) Lake Martin

If you’re up for some fun and thrilling activities by a picturesque lake, Lake Martin is an excellent choice. It’s a hidden gem that has the potential to rival some of the main attractions.

First, talking about the lake, it is a very charming and majestic lake that offers several activities to its visitors, but the best thing is just a normal walk beside the lake.

But, if you want to engage yourself in some breathtaking activities, then you can try swimming, fishing and boating in Lake. All of these are completely free, only if you have chosen the suitable and dedicated spots.

Beside the lake, there are trails offering a thrilling hiking experience, allowing you to admire the beauty of the lake, nature, and wildlife. In short, It’s a perfect spot for a nature walk.

And, if you are planning to bring your own BBQ and snack, then you can go to some designated area beside the lake, where you can BBQ freely.

In a nutshell, if you are looking for a free but adventurous place to visit with your group, then you should definitely visit Lake Martin.

b) Visit Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores is one of Alabama’s most renowned tourist spots, and surprisingly, it’s completely free and fun. So, if you’re looking to enjoy without spending, the public beach is a highlight, offering a fantastic experience at no cost.

And, all of your friend groups (even families and pets) can visit this beach to experience a charming and exciting time near a fantastic white sand beach.

It is the most visited place in Alabama, that offers countless activities, amenities and a memorable experience to its visitors.

You can try swimming, surfing and other water activities. But, besides this, you can play volleyball, take sunbathe or hunt some sea shells. Maybe you will find some.

Try to choose the perfect time with less crowd and a suitable environment for activities. Generally, spring and fall time is perfect, because it boasts a serene environment and moderate temperature.

Moreover, keep an eye on the sand as it might be dirty since people generally don’t pay attention to hygiene. So, don’t make the same mistake.

Moreover, it also has a Gulf State park for more options, like camping, birdwatching and other adventure activities.

Try to stay until evening to watch a gorgeous sunset.

If you get hungry, you can try the Hangout restaurant, which is the most famous and a hidden gem of this beach. Fortunately, this beach is located near Orange Beach, so you can also visit the town for any necessities, accommodations, food, and more.

3. Unique Things to do in Alabama for friends 🤨

If you’re seeking an unforgettable and truly distinctive experience to make this trip a lasting memory, I have two exceptional activities that are bound to leave an indelible mark on your minds for generations to come.

a) Dolphin Cruise

Do you love dolphins, or perhaps you enjoy cruises, the sea, and marine life? Well, no matter your preference, you and your pals are bound to love the Dolphin Cruise.

It is one of the most unique and exceptionally fun experiences in Alabama. Moreover, anyone can participate in it and they are surely gonna get some enjoyment.

Now, as its name suggests, It is a cruise, so YEAH! You have to book it, only then you can board the cruise and experience a voyage on the enormous sea. However, the main purpose of this activity is to see cute and acrobatic dolphins.

Moreover, you will also encounter some amazing marine life, including flora and fauna, plus the weather and surroundings during the trip are super awesome. It can uplift the mood of literally everyone and your friends are no exception.

Many coastal areas provide this lustful and fun experience, like Orange Beach, Gulf Shores and Dauphin Island. So, check your location and choose which is suitable for all of you. Plus, the duration is only 2 hours, but that’s ample time to search for dolphins, observe their behavior, and enjoy the coastal scenery.

Luck is another factor in this trip. If you are lucky, you might see several dolphins swimming alongside the boat, leap through the waves, and display their acrobatic skills. But the exact opposite is also possible.

Make sure, you don’t have seasickness. Plus check other factors, like weather, sea level, security, etc.

b) Watch a football game in Tuscaloosa

Alabama is quite famous for its college football sport. So, In my opinion, it’s a great idea to visit a college and see one in person. And don’t think what’s special about it, it might be boring. Because every year thousands of people must visit college stadiums to get the rush feeling of adrenaline and excitement while cheering for their teams.

Now, the most famous place for this activity is Tuscaloosa, where you can find plenty of home football matches, if the timing is perfect, like fall. However, you need to buy a ticket, but the price is reasonable.

After reaching your seat, you will realize that the whole stadium is packed with passionate football fans who are cheering for their favorite team. Even all of you can feel the energy and rush of adrenaline without doing anything.

Even the matches are super interesting and will hook you to the bitter end. You can even chair your tea, but I suggest cheering Crimson Tide or the University of Alabama’s quad.

The best team from the state or place is Crimson Tide. Plus, all The teams even have fan clubs, so just think how famous this simple sport is.

After the match, I recommend you to go to Dreamland BBQ to try some mouthwatering cuisine. This place is renowned as one of the best southern cuisine providers.

4. Adventure things to do in Alabama 🤠

If you are with your friend, then adventure is a must. Exploring Labam and engaging in different fun and thrilling activities is the best experience you can have with your buddies.

a) Explore Cheaha Park and Mountain

If you want pure thrill and adventure, then try to convince your buddies for a trip to Cheaha Park. 

It also has an entry fee, which is only $5 and it includes everything this park has to offer, except food and cafes.

Now the best part of this park is its location, serene environment and adventure activities it offers. But that’s not the key highlight. Here you will encounter both Cheaha Park and Cheaha Mountain.

Cheaha Park is a very fun and thrilling place for some cool and exhilarating adventure, whereas Cheaha Mountain is considered the highest point of Alabama, which offers hiking facilities and amazing top-notch views.

At Cheaha Park, you will come across many buildings, like the Visitor place, souvenir shop, cafe, etc. Make sure to visit the Visitor’s place (for map, info, directions, etc) before the trip and the Souvenir or cafe shop at the end of the trip.

Now, in Cheaha Park, you can try many adventure activities like camping, swimming, birdwatching, etc. Plus a picnic and leisure stroll beside the lake.

On the other hand, Cheaha Mountain offers amazing and thrilling hiking trails that lead to a top-notch view from the top. My personal favorite is the Cave Creek hiking trail. Furthermore, at the top, you will find a lookout tower that provides a breathtaking view of the whole surrounding.

Fun Fact – If you prefer, you can also drive to the top instead of walking.

b) Take a Ghost Tour

Another fun activity you can do with your group is taking a ghost tour. Isn’t something totally different, but I think you are fascinated by it. Plus, with friends, I don’t think the ghost will be super scary anymore.

A spooky environment, creepy sounds, and danger lurking at every moment is truly a breathtaking experience, but you are with your buddy. So, it’s fine. Plus, if there is someone who gets scared easily, you can try to prank him and so on.

Now, the best ghost tour or walk in Alabama is located in Birmingham. And, it shows the dark side of Alabama. But, the places this tour includes are those areas that have a scary history or experienced some paranormal activities.

This tour includes the eeriest churches, hotels and some creepy graveyards. So, don’t take this tour as a joke or a normal adventure.

Rest assured, you’ll be in good hands with your own experienced guide leading the way. After all, exploring these places solo isn’t anyone’s preference, nor should it be. Simply follow your guide, and you’re all set for an unforgettable adventure.

5. Easy and Leisure things to do in Alabama 👌

If you don’t want to do something exhausting, and just want to spend some time with your buddy while roaming and driving, then here I have mentioned 2 very easy and fun activities that might be a good option for your next meet-up.

a) Roam Birmingham city

If you live near Birmingham or want a simple but leisurely stroll in a vibrant and urban city, then you can roam the Birmingham city with your pals.

Birmingham city is one of the most famous cities of Alabama which houses tons of world-famous attractions, vibrant cultures, architecture, street life, cuisines, amenities and so on.

It also boasts some amazing yet simple parks to rest or have friendly chats. On the other hand, it has some renowned attractions, like the Botanical garden, zoo, art museums, music venue, ghost tour etc. 

If you get tired or starve, then you can visit some renowned restaurants, like Highland Bar and Grill or try some crafted beer in local microbreweries.

During your stroll, you will come across some bustling streets lined up with vibrant shops full of cool stuff.

Moreover, the nightlife of Birmingham is just gorgeous. The vibrant lights, pubs, cafes and bustling crowd, everything makes it a worthwhile experience.

b) Take a road trip along the Natchez Trace Parkway

During the process of this list, I also thought of adding a road trip to Alabama. Because road trips are in trend now and mostly everyone finds it super interesting. Fortunately, Alabama has an amazing route for road trips and that’s Natchez Trace Parkway

Embarking on this road trip feels like stepping into a living history book, where each twist and turn reveals tales of centuries past. So, YES! There is a lot of history to unfold on the way.

Now this road trip meanders through rolling hills, verdant forests, and meadows dotted with wildflowers, providing a picturesque backdrop for your adventure.

During the ride, you will come across a lift of adventure activities, like hiking, bird watching etc. I highly recommend you try a hiking trail because it leads to hidden waterfalls, scenic overlooks, and peaceful picnic spots.

And of course, no road trip would be complete without sampling the local cuisine along the way. From Southern comfort food to roadside barbecue joints dishing out mouth-watering ribs and brisket, the Natchez Trace Parkway offers plenty of opportunities to indulge in delicious regional fare.

6. Dining options in Alabama 🍔

Food is another effective method to spend some friendly and memorable time with your buddies while having some of the fine southern cuisine of Alabama. Seriously, the food memories are long-lasting.

a) Try BBQ in Highland Bar and Grill 

Alabama is quite famous for its mouthwatering and delicacy southern cuisine. And one of the best dishes you can try with your buddies is grilled BBQ. 

Now, if you want to try this, I have a recommendation, the Highland Bar and Grill. It is one of the most famous restaurants in Birmingham and Alabama.

This restaurant has had a pleasant environment and a genuine staff since the 1980s who are very friendly and cooperative towards the customer. They are very dedicated to their profession and it can be seen in every dish.

If you want some suggestions, then for starters you should try Guadalupe Special and for the main course try Stone Ground Baked Grits. It is the signature dish of the restaurant and just exquisite.

There are some issues, like it can be a bit noisy, pricey and getting a reservation is quite a challenge.

Tip – Leave some room for dessert, it’s just YUMMY! Plus, try some wine.

b) Taste crafted beer in a brewery

Are you fond of beer or just drink it occasionally? Well, that doesn’t matter, because Alabama-crafted beer will surely fascinate your whole group, especially beer enthusiasts. 

Crafted beer is a special kind of beverage in Alabama, which is handcrafted in the local microbreweries of Birmingham and Montgomery. So, they have a real feel and genuine taste in it.

You can go to any brewery and just the moment you enter, you get high with the enticing aromas of freshly brewed beer. The shop is filled with stainless steel fermenters and wooden barrels.

Moreover, you will be given a menu with an array of different beers from classic flagship beers to limited-edition seasonal releases. Each beer is completely handcrafted and contains magic from the brewer.

Plus, the crafted beer is more than a beverage. It is a community in Alabama, where you can chat with fellow beer enthusiasts and ask for some recommendations.
